Vaze Haze

 DMV's #1 Punk Rapper

Vaze Haze is a DMV-based alternative rap artist, filmmaker, visual artist, and creative director who describes himself as the region’s “number one Punk Rockstar.” The title began as a self-proclaimed joke, but his body of work has increasingly given it some merit.

Rather than treating genre as a boundary, Vaze Haze uses it as a palette. His music moves between alternative rap, R&B, punk, grunge, and rage, allowing him to make aggressive records, vulnerable songs, experimental pieces, and love songs without feeling obligated to choose a single identity. His approach is rooted in the idea that an artist should be able to follow an instinct wherever it leads.

That philosophy was particularly evident during his 2021 run. Over the course of the year, Vaze Haze released three projects that occupied distinctly different creative spaces. All the Dead Punk Kids! Demo Tape explored his punk and rock influences, while a gospel-rap project initially presented with an almost satirical quality gradually revealed itself to be more sincere and personal than listeners may have expected. He followed those projects with the collaborative A Crash Course Through Devil’s Vapors, a project that captured the chaotic energy and personality associated with the CLXXD collective.

The three releases collectively generated more than 221,000 Spotify streams, providing Vaze with an early foundation while demonstrating the range of his creative identity.

Music, however, has never been the only medium through which Vaze Haze expresses himself.

He has developed his filmmaking alongside Aaron Kimmel through the AKimmel Films team, directing music videos while also appearing in front of the camera. His acting experience ranges from short-form comedic skits to independent college film projects. Behind the scenes, Vaze can often be found working with a digital pen, developing comics, illustrations, visual concepts, and artwork for the CLXXD store.

That multidisciplinary approach is central to how he views CLXXD.

Founded by his brother, C-Y, CLXXD began as a clothing and creative project but has grown into a larger vision encompassing music, fashion, film, visual art, comics, technology, and community. The goal has never been simply to sell clothing. It has been to construct a world around the people making and experiencing the art.

Vaze has described the long-term vision as an interactive community where fans can participate through digital identities, fashion, art, music, and technology. The idea predates today's mainstream conversations about virtual worlds and the metaverse, growing from conversations between Vaze and C-Y about augmented reality, digital fashion, social platforms, and the possibilities of technology.

That philosophy captures the larger direction of his work: music is one piece of a much bigger creative ecosystem.

As Vaze Haze continues developing his music, filmmaking, visual art, and work with CLXXD, the objective is not simply to become better at one medium. It is to create a world where all of them connect.

The songs become stories. The stories become visuals. The visuals become characters and worlds. And CLXXD becomes the space where they intersect.
